Devi Kali is the destroyer of evil forces. The Divine Mother is the most powerful form of Shakti, Who destroys the evil in order to protect the innocent.
Revered as Adi Shakti or Adi Parashakti - Mother of the Universe, She is the divine protector and the one who bestows moksha, or liberation.
Kali means Kala or force of time. Before creation, there was only darkness and everything was created from the darkness.
The Dark appearance of Devi Kali represents the darkness from which everything was born.
As she is also the Goddess of Preservation, the Devi is worshiped as the preserver of nature.
She is the Protector who washes away a dark night or a night of a great battle (kaal means time and ratri means night).
She is the one who destroys ignorance and removes darkness.
